Beatriz Martines is the corporate chef for H Town Restaurant Group, owned and operated by James-beard Award-winning Chef Hugo Ortega and Tracy Vaught. She was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, and graduated with honors with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from The Art Institute of Houston, and an Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry. She worked with Mexican celebrity chef Aquiles Chavez at his restaurant in Houston before being selected as one of just two students to receive a five-month apprenticeship scholarship at El Celler de Can Roca, rated as one of the best restaurants in the world. There she met chefs Hugo Ortega and Ruben Ortega, staging at the world-renown restaurant, who offered her a job with H Town Restaurant Group upon her return to Houston. Martines assists Chef Hugo with recipe development, staff training, event preparation, food cost control and labor cost and control, as well out-of-town events.
